Like Dave Grohl and Kyle Walker’s lovers, women having affairs fear pregnancy drama

The key findings

* News that Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl cheated on his wife and fathered a baby with his lover has sent shockwaves worldwide.

* In both the case of Grohl and Manchester City footballer Kyle Walker, the men have decided to stay with their wives, abandoning their lovers.

* 45% of women admit that they have had a pregnancy scare whilst having an affair, and 83% of those feared being ditched by their lover if they were having a baby.

* Study conducted by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s largest extramarital dating site

Celebrities like Dave Grohl and Kyle Walker have made headlines for fathering secret children during their extramarital affairs, sending shockwaves through their marriages and their public lives. But while the world watches these high-profile dramas unfold, many women caught up in affairs are facing a very similar, terrifying reality – the dreaded pregnancy scare.

Affairs can be thrilling and full of passion, but the fear of an unplanned pregnancy can turn that excitement into a nightmare. In a recent poll from affairs site IllicitEncounters.com involving 2,000 women, 45% of female members admitted to having a pregnancy scare during their affair. Many of them found themselves panicking over the possibility that they could be carrying their lover’s child, just like the situations that have rocked the lives of Grohl and Walker.

For many women involved in affairs, the fear of becoming pregnant by their lover is all too real. While the media focuses on the chaos caused when famous men like Dave Grohl and Kyle Walker father children with their mistresses, what’s often missed is the emotional turmoil for the ‘other woman’.

One member currently using IllicitEncounters.com, who wanted to remain anonymous, shared her anxiety during a scare: “I missed my period, and my heart sank because I hadn’t had sex with my husband for months. The thought of being pregnant with my lover’s baby and having to explain that to my husband was horrifying. It was weeks of stress until I found out it was a false alarm, but I genuinely thought my world was about to explode.”

Of the women who experienced a pregnancy scare, 83% feared their lover would abandon them if they fell pregnant. Just like in the cases of Walker and Grohl, the man is often torn between his family and his mistress, and many choose to return to the safety of their marriage.

Expert comment from Jessica Leoni

Jessica Leoni, sex and relationships expert at IllicitEncounters.com said ‘The fear of falling pregnant during an affair is very real – many women in these situations have found themselves wondering what they would do if that scare turned into a baby. Would they be left alone to raise a child while their lover returns to his wife?

In both the cases of Dave Grohl and Kyle Walker’s drama, it’s the mother of the child born outside of the marriage who is abandoned, while the men continue to play happy families with their wives – so this really is a legitimate fear.”

Is your partner a Man City fan? They might be cheating on you

The key findings

* Manchester City fans have been declared the biggest love rats
* Newcastle fans are the most faithful among the Premier League teams
* 79% of people are spurred on to cheat by their football team winning a match
* The findings come from IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s largest extramarital dating site

When it comes to football, the discussion about the GOAT is a continuous debate, but the UK’s largest married dating site, IllicitEncounters.com, has found the GOAT in the world of cheating: Manchester City fans.

The poll conducted by the website asked 2000 members which team they support, with Manchester City fans topping the league with 39% of the vote.

Arsenal fans came second in the list of biggest football fan cheats with 22%. Much like their position in the league, they haven’t quite managed to make it to the top.

If your partner supports Newcastle, on the other hand, you can rest easy as they’ve been declared the most faithful with just 2% of the vote.

In a second poll, the same pool of members was asked which match result made them more likely to message their mistress. Team triumphs were the biggest factor for contacting a secret lover with a notable 79%. If your partner’s team draws, there’s far less cause for concern, with just 2% spurred on to reach out to their fling.

Oliver, a member of Illicitencounters.com, said, “I’m a Cityzen through and through. I’ll be honest, when City got through to the semi-finals of the Champions League I went absolutely nuts. A lot of guys will be able to relate – the rush you get when your team scores is something else, let alone when they win. It’s like I’m on cloud nine, so reality just flies out the window. When I’m on a winning high, that’s when I get that YOLO feeling and get in touch with my mistress. The wife doesn’t notice because she just thinks I’m in the lads group chat celebrating. It literally is a win-win.”

Another user of the site, Noah, commented “Winning is like a drug: once you get a taste of it, you can’t stop. That’s exactly how I feel about having a secret relationship outside of my marriage. Every time the Gunners win it’s like an out-of-body experience. With that much adrenaline pumping around my body I need a release, and that’s when I get really randy.”

Expert comment from Jessica Leoni

Analysing the results of the polls, sex and relationships expert, Jessica Leoni, commented “It’s actually dopamine which sets off that good feeling in your brain after a win, which in turn makes you want to keep experiencing it over and over again. Goals scored in the last minutes of the match can have the biggest effect on football fans – last minute wins give an unparalleled buzz of adrenaline, which explains why so many men are spurred on to cheat afterwards.

Any thoughts about potential consequences are washed away by the thrill of victory. So, if your partner never misses a match, you might want to secretly support the team they’re playing against – just to be on the safe side, otherwise their team might not be the only one scoring that night.”

Football Widows Join Up to Extra-Marital Dating Site on Cup Final Day!

Thousands of football widows flocked to online dating site IllicitEncounters.com during this weekend’s FA Cup Final.

There was a huge spike of women joining the extra-marital dating site on Saturday at 17.45pm, shortly after the kick-off of the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Wigan.

Illicit Encounters spokesperson Rosie Freeman-Jones said: “This huge amount of interest is very unusual for a sunny Saturday afternoon and the numbers on the site grew steadily for the next couple of hours.”

“Some of the new members even mentioned the fact that they had just signed up was because they were sick and tired of always coming in second best to the football at the weekend.”

According to University of Lancaster only 12.85% of women hold membership to Premier League. Therefore almost 9 out of 10 football fans are men, leaving a huge proportion of women at home: feeling shunned and looking for some excitement.

During last years FA Cup final 77,169 football fans turned up to watch the match at Wembley and over 2.5 million men enjoyed the game with the lads, not thinking twice about their partners they left at home.

Meanwhile, thousands of neglected wives and girlfriends became bored and decided to find some fun of their own. Leading UK married dating website lllicitEncounters.com, with nearly 800,000 members, saw a 62% rise in females logging on to the site on Saturday and a 70% increase in the number of new females joining the site.

Rosie Freeman-Jones added “Illicit Encounters sees a spike like this in women’s activity every year around this time. Women feel neglected as men put football first and spend a lot of time with their male friends watching the games. Consequently women find something else to fill up their time whilst their men are wrapped up in the match.”

“It’s not just that women have more time, it’s that they feel second best and are often not allowed to get involved with football which is deemed a man’s game. For the women it’s not just about finding something to fill the time: it’s about getting the attention and adoration they deserve from somewhere as it’s not coming from their other halves. In some respects it’s about getting one over the boyfriends and husbands that have been too absorbed in the game to notice”
