New research released today by Britain’s largest married dating site, IllicitEncounters.com, shows that teachers are the best ingredient for a happy marriage! When 1,000 IE members across the UK and Ireland were asked ‘What do you do for a career?’ the lowest percentage of them (0.5%) said they were teachers. As well as that, when asked ‘what job would you like the mother/father of your children to have?’ the highest answer was ‘teacher’ (27%), beating ‘CEO’, ‘salesman’, ‘actor’ and ‘engineer’.

The top six professions the 1,000 respondants had were:

So why exactly are teachers 486% more likely to stay faithful than CEOs or business owners?

“There are many reasons why teachers are more likely to commit to a marriage than other professions,” said psychologist Lucy Redford, “Unless they’ve made a horrific career choice, teachers are usually very good with children. In the classroom they can see the effect of arguing or separated parents, and because most teachers are empathetic, they won’t want to create the same turbulence in their own home. They’ll more than likely have the ability to discipline children because it’s their job (both in school and at home). It’s for this reason that teachers have a high respect and commitment to a marriage and won’t risk fracturing it.”

New research released today shows that 67% of women won’t go on a first date on Friday the 13th, even if is it Valentine’s Eve. The study, by IllicitEncounters.com the UK’S largest married dating site, asked 1,500 female members if they would go on a date tomorrow – Valentine’s Eve, Friday the 13th and a staggering 1,005 women said they wouldn’t, even if it was with someone they really liked!

The 33% who said they would go were asked ‘If you went on a date, how would it affect you?’ and the results were:

According to new research released today by Illicit Encounters, the UK’s top married dating site, the top excuse people get caught out on when having an affair is ‘I’m going fishing’, followed quickly by ‘going to the library’ and ‘going to play darts’.

2,000 Illicit Encounters members were asked what the worst excuse was their spouse gave them when sneaking off with their lovers and out of a list of 40 options, including ‘I’m going to the bank’, ‘I need to get the car serviced’ and ‘I’m getting my eyes tested’; ‘I’m going fishing’ came out on top with 28% of the votes.

When this 28% (541 people) were asked ‘Why do you think your spouse is not fishing?’ the top six reasons were –

‘Red Tuesday’ is the top dumping day of the year, just four days before Valentine’s Day, according to new research released today by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s top married dating website. 3,000 people were surveyed on Illicit Encounters and one in five – 22% – had broken up with someone the week before Valentine’s Day. Dumping someone electronically is also rising in popularity with most people breaking up with someone over their phone.

22% of people surveyed had admitted to breaking up with someone the week before Valentine’s Day, with the majority (473 of the 660) saying they made a clean break four days before the festival of love.

“There are many different reasons people make such a drastic decision so close to Valentine’s Day,” said psychologist Lucy Redford, “Some people realise how much they don’t love someone with the romanticism in the air; some buckle under the pressure of committing; others think they can probably do better if they’re not happy and because Valentine’s Day is a national celebration, it’s hard to ignore. For a lot of couples, the 14th February brings them closer together and makes them realise how in love they are. For others, it’s a reminder of the cracks in their relationship. A lot of people cannot bear to be false and celebrate something that doesn’t exist, so they break up beforehand. It might seem quite cruel but it’s very emotionally damaging for a person to be in a relationship that’s not giving them anything positive. Staying when it’s not working can be a lot more toxic in the long run than going your separate ways.”

According to new research by Illicit Encounters, the UK’s top married dating site, lawyers are the safest people to have affairs with, and make better liars than politicians, salesmen and even actors!

2,000 Illicit Encounters members were surveyed about what profession they thought was the safest to have affairs with and out of a list of 40 options, including teachers, bankers, psychics, entrepreneurs and doctors, lawyers came out on top with 27% of the votes.

“What’s most shocking about this research is that lawyers are deemed even better liars than politicians!” Claire Page, spokesperson for Illicit Encounters said, “One would think that backbiting, obfuscation, and double-dealing are practically job qualifications for politicians, so for lawyers to be seen as better liars than them, that’s quite an achievement!

“Equally as surprising is that they’re even seen as better liars than actors – people who lie for a living. For some, lawyer stereotypes that they’re untrustworthy, deceitful and dishonest may seem like a negative, but it’s for these exact reasons that lawyers are fantastic affair material!”

English are self-conscious about their Wobbly bits while Scottish Believe they’re Supermodels!

New research released today by Illicit Encounters showed that the English are far more self-conscious than the Scottish. Only 17% of the 2,000 English surveyed put the word ‘athletic’ on their online dating profile, while a staggering 53% of the 1,800 Scottish would describe their build as ‘athletic’.

The research, which was carried out on 3,800 Illicit Encounters members, surveyed the difference between the confidence levels of the Scottish and English.

When the English were asked ‘Why wouldn’t you describe yourself as athletic?’ the top reason was ‘I think I am overweight’, with 34% of the votes, while ‘I don’t like the way I look since I’ve had children’ came in second with 30%, ‘I am not as toned as I used to be’ came in third place with 21%, and ‘I don’t have enough time to work out’ came in fourth with 15% of the votes.

The Scottish who describe themselves as ‘athletic’ were asked what their favourite feature was about themselves. The top three responses were ‘my arms’ (39%), ‘my bum’ (36%), and ‘my abs’ (22%).

“The results of the survey were very interesting,” said Dr. Lucy Redford, “The majority of the Scottish surveyed have described themselves as ‘athletic’ despite the fact that 62.6% of 16-64 year olds are medically overweight or obese in Scotland, costing the NHS over £600 million a year. In comparison, 60% of people in England between the ages of 16 and 64 are overweight or obese. This isn’t a healthy figure either by any means, but it’s interesting that the vast majority of the surveyed Scottish people would call themselves athletic even though the vast majority of people in Scotland are overweight or obese.”

Research found that those who have the word ‘athletic’ in their profiles get an average of 127% more traffic than those who don’t have it on their profile, proving that confidence in itself is incredibly attractive to both men and women.

“Just because someone doesn’t describe themselves as athletic, it doesn’t mean they’re not in good shape,” said Claire Page, spokesperson for Illicit Encounters, “Often, people are too afraid to use the word ‘athletic’ in their profile in case people think they’re built like Arnold Schwarzenegger or as ripped as Jessica Ennis. They’re afraid to cause disappointment when they meet up with their date. It’s a classic case of low self-esteem, which is why so many people look to have affairs in the first place – to seek validation if they’re no longer getting it from their partners. 2,000 surveyed women in the UK were asked ‘what’s the best race to have an Illicit Encounter with?’ and out of the thirty race options, including French, Italian, Spanish, Greek and English, Irish came out on top with 23% of votes. The top three reasons were 1) ‘Irish men make me laugh’ 2) ‘Irish men are very discrete’ 3) ‘Irish men are charming.’

Although 460 women said the Irish were the best race to have an affair with, only 11% (50.6 women) would leave their husbands for them. London was the number 1 destination for a weekend rendezvous, with more anonymity in a larger city, while Manchester came in second and Edinburgh came in third.

“The results of this survey are extremely interesting” said Claire Page, spokesperson for Illicit Encounters, “Everyone enjoys themselves around someone who can make them laugh. A sense of humour, which comes naturally to Irish men, is almost irresistible. Charms gets you everywhere! Most people are very good at making themselves look good at dinner parties but Oscar Wilde was good at making others feel good. Everyone wants to feel important and this is exactly what Irish men tend to do – make women feel important. It’s not difficult to see why British women are falling over themselves to have an affair with an Irish man!”

Psychologist Lucy Redford said the Irish were so desirable because they were so attractive, not necessarily because of their appearance – “Good looks are purely physical attributes – in men, it’s a matter of facial symmetry, shoulder-to-waist ratio, height and outward signs of physical health. Attractiveness on the other hand, is about the mind, and how people respond to you. Being attractive is about charisma and the way you make people feel; in fact, a study from Webster University found that it was behaviour that attracted people rather than just physical looks.”

“Another interesting result was that the Irish men came out on top as most discrete,” said Dr. Redford “This could be because they’re less attached to the women they’re having affairs with and discretion could be a natural bi-product of a long-distance relationship.”

40,700 Irish people emigrated in 2014 – a fall from the 89,000 searching for their fortunes abroad in 2013.

The ability to cook a good meal is the most desirable skill in an extra marital partner, according to a recent survey by Illicit Encounters, the UK’s top married dating site. 500 women were asked ‘what’s the most vital skillset for your potential partner – DIY, playing a musical instrument, speaking in public, dancing, speaking a foreign language, or cooking a good meal?’ The ability to stimulate taste buds came out on top!

“The result of our survey proves that the old saying ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’ also applies to women.” Claire Page, spokesperson for Illicit Encounters said, “People who seek affairs also seek escapism from their often boring, mundane lives. Both husbands and wives in stale marriages can begin to resent their partner if they have to do the bulk a chore they don’t enjoy, such as cooking. It can naturally become a huge priority for them that their new partner has cooking skills so they don’t have to do the cooking themselves.”

The research also found that over 78% (394) of the surveyed women on IllicitEncounters.com would like to be wined and dined at least once a week, and 315 of these women would prefer home-made meals.

“There are many different reasons these women prefer home-made meals. Firstly, it’s less time in public at cafes and restaurants, which means more discretion. Secondly, for health and vanity reasons because home-made meals are generally healthier and contain less calories because you know and control what’s going into them. Thirdly, it shows that you’ve put more effort into the meal, cooking it yourself rather than just going to a restaurant and getting someone else to do the work. Women want to feel wanted and important. Knowing someone’s gone to the trouble of cooking something from scratch – that in itself is an aphrodisiac!”

The top ten meals women wanted were:
