* Today is the day people are mostly likely to cheat on their partner
* July is the most popular month for infidelity, with the end of the school year and higher temperatures to blame
* The Christmas period is the next most popular time for affairs
* The findings come from IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s largest extramarital dating site
Today has been declared the day that people are most likely to have an affair. Known as ‘Frisky Friday’, it’s the peak day for affairs with people planning to have their last illicit encounter with their lover before schools break up for the summer holidays.
Leading up to Frisky Friday, there was a notable surge in activity on IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s top website for married dating, with a substantial 52% increase in registrations. Anticipating even more engagement, the platform expects a significant 79% overall upswing on the 21st July, which happens to be the most favoured day of the year for extramarital affairs.
After surveying 1000 male and female members, the site discovered that a significant 89% of adulterers maintain communication with their affair partner during the summer “cheat break”. Additionally, over half of them (58%) have already made arrangements to meet their lovers immediately after the summer holidays in September.
Charlotte from London who uses the extramarital site said, “I’ve been with my husband for years now, and with every day that passes, the spark in our relationship fades. I’ve been seeing a married man for months but we both know the school holidays will make it challenging for us to meet. That’s why we’ve planned to see each other today for one last rendezvous. Don’t get me wrong, we’ll still be in touch over the next month but if I’m honest, I’m already looking forward to September.”
George from Birmingham, who also uses the website, commented, “I’ve been meeting women from the site for years now, despite being married with two kids. Summer holidays are actually the thing I dread most because I know that’s the time I won’t be able to see my lover, and instead I’m forced to play happy families.”
When asked to comment on the Frisky Friday phenomenon, Jessica Leoni who is the sex and relationships expert at IllicitEncounters.com said “July has historically been the busiest month of the year for our website, and the data shows that this year is no different.
The peak tends to come just before and after the summer holidays, as well as the Christmas period – perhaps one of the most stressful times of the year for couples. Knowing that they’ll be taking a “cheat break” pushes people to find the connection they’re lacking at home, and, as soon as the obligatory family time comes to an end, they’re free to do as they please.”
