Postnup Boom: How Cheaters Are Increasingly Locking Down Assets Before Getting Caught

* 41% of people having affairs say they’d consider signing a postnuptial agreement to protect themselves if their infidelity is discovered.
* 22% have already consulted a solicitor since beginning their affair — citing fear of divorce fallout, revenge, or loss of children’s inheritance.
* High-earning professionals like lawyers, surgeons, and tech entrepreneurs are leading the surge in postnups as strategic pre-divorce safeguards.
* Study conducted by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s largest extramarital dating site.

A growing number of unfaithful Brits are quietly protecting their wealth in case their secrets come to light.

According to a new poll of 2,500 married members by IllicitEncounters, the UK’s leading married dating site, 41% say they would consider signing a postnuptial agreement – not as a romantic gesture, but as a financial safeguard in case their affair is discovered.

Of those considering it, 22% revealed they’ve already consulted a solicitor since starting their affair, exploring how to ringfence their assets and avoid a costly divorce.

The motivations behind the postnup boom are striking. The majority of those surveyed – 67% – say they want to protect their wealth from being divided up in court. Another 44% say their primary concern is securing their children’s inheritance, while 31% admit they’re bracing for revenge – expecting their spouse to retaliate financially if the affair comes to light.

Certain professions are leading the charge. Lawyers were the most likely to be exploring postnups, making up 19% of those considering the move. They were followed by consultants (16%), surgeons (14%), and tech entrepreneurs (12%) – all high-pressure, high-income roles where reputation and financial stability are often tightly intertwined.

Jessica Leoni, sex and relationships expert at IllicitEncounters, says the data points to a major shift in how modern affairs are playing out. “This isn’t just a legal trend – it’s a warning sign,” she said. “Affairs are no longer just emotional or sexual gambles. They’re strategic risks – and people are planning for the consequences before they even get caught.

Postnups used to be rare, even taboo. But now they’re part of the cheater’s toolkit. Love may be unpredictable, but divorce can be expensive – and for many, protecting their wealth comes before protecting their marriage.”

One anonymous member put it bluntly: “If I get caught, I’ll lose my house and half my business. A postnup won’t protect my relationship – but it might just protect everything else.”

As extramarital relationships become more common among ambitious professionals, the rise in postnuptial agreements suggests that even betrayal now comes with a back-up plan.

Woman makes shocking decision after finding out cheating husband used campervan for an affair

* A Reddit post from a concerned wife sparked a frenzied discussion about the use of campervans to disguise infidelity last week.
* The user has now provided an update, confirming her worst fears and revealing her next steps to seek revenge – by having her own affair.
IllicitEncounters.com has been in touch with the woman, offering her lifetime Emerald membership on the UK’s largest married dating site.

A worried wife took Reddit by storm last week, sharing her concerns about her husband’s potential infidelity, as her female intuition led her to believe that he’d been ‘up to no good’ in their campervan.

The woman, having bought the campervan with her husband during lockdown in 2020, described how she’d started to question whether his excuses of “ overnight work trips” and using the campervan as “his office” were real after she entered the vehicle days and was overwhelmed with the “stench of female perfume”.

The original post titled “I think my husband’s having an affair in our campervan” racked up nearly 500,000 views and now, the woman has provided a shocking update.

After finding sexy underwear “stuffed in a drawer inside the camper” over the weekend, the suspicious wife confronted her husband with the evidence in hand, who soon admitted to infidelity.

In an unexpected twist, the Reddit user updated the community revealing her plans for revenge – by having her own affair.

The woman controversially confessed to signing up to married dating sites, “taking control and refusing to be the victim”.

Jessica Leoni, sex and relationships expert at IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s largest married dating site, commented on the controversial Reddit post, “It’s not uncommon for scorned lovers to want to get revenge after finding out about a betrayal – especially women.

In a survey we conducted back in March, we found that 38% of women admitted to revenge cheating after discovering their partner’s infidelity. Just 27% of men, on the other hand, retaliated by being unfaithful.

After following this woman’s story on Reddit, we reached out to her and she’s now been offered lifetime Emerald membership on IllicitEncounters.com.

There’s something undeniably liberating about taking control of your own narrative, especially when you’ve been wronged. We hope that a revenge affair can serve as a form of catharsis for this woman, allowing her to reclaim her confidence and sense of independence in the face of heartache.”

From the thrill of the chase to the search for emotional fulfilment, the reasons behind infidelity can hugely vary. But what’s driving Brits to stray from the path of monogamy in 2024?

According to new research from IllicitEncounters.com, over a third (35%) of people having affairs are ‘revenge cheating’, making it the biggest driver for infidelity in relationships.

It seems hell really hath no fury like a woman scorned, and ladies aren’t holding back when it comes to getting revenge on unfaithful partners, opting to fight fire with fire.

In a poll of 2,000 people, a whopping 38% of women admitted to revenge cheating, embarking on their own extramarital escapades after discovering their partner’s infidelity. Men, on the other hand, were found to be less likely to retaliate by being unfaithful (27%).

The survey, conducted by affairs site IllicitEncounters.com, found that men who turn to revenge cheating tend to be more transparent about it, with 57% choosing to reveal their vengeful act to their partners – but it’s not because they feel the need to be honest, it’s to maximise the pain inflicted by the retaliation.

On the other hand, only 32% of women own up to their infidelity, preferring to keep their payback under wraps.

A staggering 78% of individuals strike back with a vengeance within just 48 hours of learning about their partner’s infidelity. It’s a lightning-fast response to betrayal, fuelled by raw emotions and a burning desire for vengeance.

The most common methods for revenge cheating include using affairs sites and dating apps (44%), sleeping with an ex-partner (27%), contact via social media (14%), dalliances with a work colleague (10%), and even cheating with a partner’s friend (5%).

When it comes to settling scores, men and women embrace the chance to turn the tables on their unfaithful partners without hesitation, and an overwhelming 83% say they felt no remorse for their actions.

Jessica Leoni, relationship expert at IllicitEncounters.com commented on the survey results, saying “Revenge cheating is a remedy that scorned lovers appear to be opting for when it comes to treating a broken heart, especially for women.

There’s something undeniably liberating about taking control of your own narrative, especially when you’ve been wronged. Revenge affairs can serve as a form of catharsis, allowing individuals to reclaim their confidence and sense of independence in the face of heartache.

Whether it’s getting into bed with an ex or having affairs through married dating sites like IllicitEncounters, people are finding their own unique paths to payback.

That involved confessing to a past fling for 13% of women and 10% of men.

IllicitiEncounters.com sex and relationship expert Jessica Leoni said: “Revenge cheating has never been more popular.

“More people are taking the view: don’t get mad, get even, and concluding that the best way to get over an affair is not by being a doormat and accepting it but by getting out there and avenging it.

“The last two months have seen a surge in revenge cheating as people who have discovered past betrayals during lockdown and used the new freedoms to get their own back.”

IllicitEncounters has enjoyed its busiest month for new registrations in a decade as unhappy spouses use the end of lockdown to have some fun.

Another factor in the surge has been Health Secretary Matt Hancock’s affair, with men in particular encouraged by him cheating on his wife to seek a new relationship.

“Sex with the ex was even better the second time round:” rampant bar manager Chloe bedded the boy she lost her virginity to 15 years later

* The randy pair were reunited after meeting on IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading affairs site

A rampant bar manager has told how she bedded the boy she lost her virginity to 15 years later – after they were reunited on a cheating site.

Chloe, 30, from Stevenage, Herts, was keen to have an affair after the sex in her long-term relationship went stale after the birth of her two sons.

And she was stunned when she went looking for a ‘bit on the side’ on IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading affairs site, to discover her first love Paul, 31, was also trying to cheat at the same time.

Chloe said: “I messaged him immediately and said: ‘Fancy seeing you here! What a small world.’

“He got back to me in minutes and within an hour we were arranging to meet up at a hotel for sex.

“We were both curious to see how we had each changed and whether the sex would be as good the second time around.

“Well, I can confirm that it was even better – we had both learned a few new tricks since we were at school!

“It was great seeing Paul again after all these years and we slept together a few more times after that first encounter but we split up the first time for a good reason and we knew we didn’t want to leave our partners for each other.

“Having an affair was much more fun and had no consequences for our partners and our children.”

Chloe had settled down with security manager Ian, 34, the man she dated after splitting with Paul.

She said: “Paul was my first love and we fell in love at school and were both virgins when we first made love.

“After that, we were rampant for the next two years and I had the best sex of my life with him.

“We split up after leaving school when Paul went to university and I pursued a new career working in pubs and clubs.

“Paul moved abroad and I thought I would never see him again.

“I met Ian and decided to have a family.”

Everything was fine with Ian for ten years before things got boring after they started a family.

Chloe said: “The relationship became a bit of a slog and we both stopped making the effort.

“Ian put on weight and I stopped fancying him. I didn’t want to split up the family but I did want the excitement of a new relationship.

“I went on IllicitEncounters the first time a couple of years ago and ended up having a year long affair with an insurance manager.

“He was stuck in a sexless marriage, too, and we had a lot of fun.

“I took a bit of break when we split up and Covid happened and then went back on the site to discover Paul was back in the UK and looking to cheat.

“Since we split up the second time, I have been seeing another man who works in IT. It suits me to have affairs and not get heavy with anyone.”
