The office Christmas party season has arrived and a new study of over 1,500 workers conducted by leading married dating site, IllicitEncounters.com, has revealed a shocking 34% of workers have admitted to sleeping with a co-worker whilst attending their company’s Christmas party.

The UK Marriage and Adultery Report, released today, is Britain’s most comprehensive study into relationships and attitudes. The research conducted by Atomik Research and commissioned by the UK’s largest extra-marital dating site IllicitEncounters.com reveals the UK’s innermost thoughts and opinions on sex, relationships and cheating.

The report revealed:

·  A third of people confessed to thinking they married the wrong person whilst a third of people admitted they felt like they lost all their independence when they got married.

·  More than one in ten (12%) people agreed that allowing their partner to have an affair would make their relationship stronger.

·  Over a third (39%) of people said they had or had considered cheating on their partner.

Spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com, Mike Taylor commented: “The UK Marriage and Adultery Report, released today, is Britain’s most comprehensive study into relationships and attitudestowards sex and adultery. It is important to understand infidelity and the cultural, social and generational changes in attitudes to relationships, what was most surprising was the generational difference showing that younger people hold fidelity in a higher regard than their parents generation.”

What constitutes cheating seems to have changed from generation to generation, with the findings contradicting the common perception that older generations are ‘stuffy’ and young people are more liberal.

On generational differences the report showed that:

·  60% of people aged 35-44 consider kissing to be cheating compared to only 36% of people aged 55 and over.

·  25% of 18-24 year olds consider going to a strip club or getting a lap dance cheating compared to only 16% of 45+year olds.

Finally the report found surprisingly that 60% of British people wouldn’t automatically see their partner having an affair as an end of their relationship demonstrating that our views are becoming more liberal and understanding towards infidelity.

The study asked over 2,000 female members of the dating site what they thought the sexiest profession for a potential partner was and why. The top job title to get a ladies attention is entrepreneur; it’s unsurprising that creative, risk taking and intelligent entrepreneurs top the list, with examples such as Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones, Richard Branson (Virgin), Michael Smith (Mind Candy) all being ranked as top female crushes. However, straight-laced bankers and stockbrokers occupied the second place profession with women describing them as ambitious, ruthless and confident.

According to the study, the least attractive professions are professional footballer and politician. Probably not helped by the over exposure of the world cup and recent election campaigning, women viewed them as over-confident, vain, self-absorbed and as having a reputation.

The World Cup survey revealed a startling amount of the new female members classed themselves as ‘football widows’, and the top reason they were now looking for an affair, was down to feeling neglected and deprived in the bedroom.

Scotland has proved that by not qualifying, relationships are happier and men are reporting having more sex while women feel their men are being more attentive. Meanwhile in England, almost the exact opposite can be said whilst their team are away in Rio.

An even more worrying thought for football fans is that 72% of normally faithful women would consider having an affair if they felt neglected during the World Cup. This could be made even more likely with a huge 83% of the men surveyed admitting they would lie to their significant other to avoid spending time with them so they could watch the football.

However we shouldn’t underestimate the importance of the World Cup: 12% of men surveyed were willing to forgo sex for a year for tickets to the World Cup Final. There was good news for Juan Mata, despite the terrible result for Spain against the Netherlands, he was voted the player most women would like to cheat on their husbands with, and despite her husband not even making the England line-up Abby Clancey snatched the most desirable WAG tittle from Shakira.

The survey also revealed the most unfaithful football fans with French fans taking the trophy for most adulterous, followed by Italy and Brazil with England again being closely beaten by the German fans who took 4th place.
