Intelligent people are most likely to have affairs, especially women, according toIllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading married dating site.

The website looked at the educational qualifications of its nearly 1 million members in the UK. The findings show that 72% of female members have higher education qualifications of Bachelor’s Degrees or above whereas male members fared slightly lower with 65%.

Education, however, was not a standalone factor when analyzing a person’s intelligence. The website also cross examined the profiles of 500 currently active members of IllicitEncounters.com and found that 61% spoke more than one language, 48% described themselves as ‘creative’ and 34% ran their own business.

The majority of members on the site are in senior professions and earning high salaries (either in the higher rate or additional rate tax band), it is clear that intelligence impacts success.

Successful people tend to be high earners who have the financial means to indulge in an additional discrete relationship. The rise in women choosing to cheat on their spouses could be due to women choosing to focus on their careers and have children later in life, with the average age of women having kids currently at 30 years old. With better financial stability and less commitment, wives choosing to have an affair are on the increase.

The National Opinion Research Centre’s General Social Survey of American Society 2013 confirmed there has been an increase in women having affairs by 40%, while men having affairs remained consistent at 21%. With the impending elections, IllicitEncounters.com has asked its members to take part in a slightly different kind of poll. Instead of snog marry and avoid, 500 members were asked which politicians they would most like to cheat with, divorce their spouse for or avoid.

The results reveal that most women would like to cheat with Boris Johnson with over half of the vote (52%) and men would like to be unfaithful with Esther McVey (47%).

In the ‘divorce spouse for’ category Nick Clegg came top for women with 38% and Gloria De Piero for men with 35%.

The politician that has us running for the hills in the ‘avoid’ category is Nigel Farage with a staggering 64% of the vote and Nicola Sturgeon (58%).

Runners up in the ‘most likely to cheat with’ included Jeremy Hunt, Grant Shapps, Penny Mordaunt, Caroline Flint and Elizabeth Truss suggesting that Conservative politicians appeal to a more illicit audience.

David Cameron received 11% of the votes in the marry category whilst Ed Miliband didn’t fare so well receiving 6% of the votes in the avoid category.

Married dating site IllicitEncounters.com released a list of the top apps that are to blame for breakups. The list was based on votes from 100 women, all who found out their husbands were having affairs on apps.

The top ten adultery-busting apps were:

1) Facebook – The biggest culprit is the social network giant. 76% of women said they became suspicious when they logged into their partner’s Facebook and found out he was messaging other women; stalked his female friends and found out he was still friends with an ex; or saw he had become friends with someone they later discovered he was having an affair with.

2) Whatsapp – 34% of women said their suspicions were raised when they found their husband was in contact with other women, or could see that he was lying about his location, via Whatsapp.

3) i-Message – Any communication through i-Message also goes to your iPad, laptop etc. so if your laptop is at your house, along with your wife, you might get busted. 29% of women said they became aware of their husband’s affair through his i-Message communications.

4) Snapchat – Often mistaken as the best app if you’re having an affair because images are wiped after ten seconds, people forget that you can take a screenshot of your images and that your history shows who you’ve been in contact with. 27% of women said they became suspicious when they saw contact from other women on their husband’s phone via Snapchat – more than half of these women said they would have been less suspicious if they could see what the pictures were, but the secrecy made them more suspicious.

5) Manything – It’s CCTV for your phone, laptop or tablet. It livestreams and records the inside of your house to the cloud. 19% of women said they had caught their husbands cheating or speaking to their mistress on the phone when they were out of the house via Manything.

6) Find my iPhone – This app locates people in seconds so if you leave the house with your phone and you’re not where you say you are, you could land yourself in trouble. 11% of women said they found out their husband was not where he said he was by tracking him with Find my iPhone.

7) Kik – This adult-orientated app has an age restriction, for 17+. More than half of the members (57%) on Illicit Encounters said they use Kik for ‘sexting’ and sending ‘naughty pictures’. 7% of women surveyed said they became concerned about their husband’s fidelity when they saw the Kik app on his phone.

8) Lie Detector: True Scanner app – This is an application that can detect lies through the touch screen and by detecting physical changes in the body of the person being interrogated, such as changes in emotional state, blood pressure, mood detection, finger sweating and finger temperature. 5% of women said they knew their husband was lying about his fidelity when he didn’t pass the lie detector test or refused to take it.

9) Tinder – Discretion is abandoned by anyone having an affair and using Tinder. 4% of women said they doubted their husband’s faithfulness when they saw Tinder on his phone.

10) Find my Friend – 2% of women knew their husband was lying about his whereabouts when this app showed his location to be different to where he said he was.

“What I find most interesting about this list is how obvious some men are!” Claire Page, spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com said, “Discretion is our main priority and the most important thing when having a successful affair. I wouldn’t encourage anyone to be friends with their mistress or histress on Facebook – it’s just asking for trouble. Four in five breakups are linked with Facebook so if you’re having an affair, don’t learn from you own mistakes – learn from other people’s, and keep it off social media!”

Of the 100 women surveyed who found out their husbands were having affairs on apps, 28% stayed with their husbands. The top three reasons these women stayed with their husbands despite being aware of their husband’s infidelity were:

2) I am having an affair too (32%)

3) I don’t want to change the family setup (7%)

Therapists at leading charity ‘Relationships Ireland’ say as many as 80% of marriages they are trying to save have fallen apart partly because of Facebook.

According to a study by journal CyberPsychology, 28 million couples break up every year because of Facebook or Whatsapp.

Although there’s an increase in the number of people getting married in later life, there is also an increase in affairs – over 49,123 of members on IllicitEncounters.com are aged 60+ (an increase of 60% since 2013), while 137,040 are aged 50-59 (an increase of 115% since 2013).

“Our research shows that 71% of women get a confidence boost after an affair. New information released today by married dating website IllicitEncounters.com crushes the argument that people who have no God have no moral compass.

Atheists have less affairs than Christians in the UK with more than ten Christian adulterers for every one Atheist.

IllicitEncounters members were asked what religious group they belonged to and Atheists scored only 6%, compared to 64% classing themselves as Christian.

The mile high club is less popular than people think – only 0.4% (2 in 500 people) said they had sex in an airplane; 6% had sex on a train or tube; 34% had sex in a toilet; 5.4% had sexual relations on a bus; 7% got hot and heavy in a tent; 76% had intimacies in a car, while 68% got down and dirty on kitchen surfaces.

The average kitchen surface has very dangerous bacteria such as e-coli, listeria, salmonella and campylobacter – which can cause paralysis. People are very conscious of keeping their homes clean but don’t pay as much attention to the interior cleanliness of their cars.”

Less than a third of people (31%) surveyed cleaned their car annually, while one in nine said they didn’t wipe down surfaces, and two in three said they never hoover their car’s interior.

A poll with 500 votes by married dating website IllicitEncounters.com found that 79% of people listen to more music after a breakup, and showed what the top breakup songs were.

“Interestingly, we found that Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ is the most popular song immediately after breakups,” Claire Page, spokesperson for Illicit Encounters said, “But Gotye’s ‘Someone That I Used to Know’ is the most popular song two-weeks after breakups. This really reflects the emotional process of a breakup – initially sorrow and then anger. At first, breakups are emotionally exhausting, but time is a healer and after a while you pull yourself together and realise that the person you were with wasn’t meant for you, or you may even look back with fondness for what once made you happy.”
