How faithful is your star sign?

What the numbers show

• Capricorns crowned top cheating star sign
• Sagittarius’ are the most faithful
• 14% of adulterers are cheating on a Leo
• Data released by the UK’s top extra-marital dating site IllicitEncounters.com

Could cheating be written in the stars? IllicitEncounters.com analysed data of 180,000 of its married members and found that the zodiac may have a lot to say about infidelity.

Capricorns topped the charts with 16% of cheaters belonging to this star sign, closely followed by Libra’s with 13%.

Want your partner to remain faithful? Dating a Sagittarius secures monogamy with only 4% of archers currently cheating on their partner.

Other star signs less likely to cheat are Aquarius (5%) and Pieces (5%)

2000 members were also asked what star sign their spouse was, and a phenomenal 14% reported that their married to a Leo.

Natasha a Capricorn currently using the site said “I’d had it up to here with my husband last year. You see, my birthday is on the 24th of December, and my husband plans me a rubbish – buy one get one free Christmas slash birthday gift – every, single, year! What a way to make you feel appreciated.

I decided enough was enough, and as an extra special birthday treat to myself – I decided to have an affair. Heck, best decision I’ve ever made, and guess what, the other guy I’m seeing has already promised me a birthday out of this world, and that’s alongside my Christmas present. For once I’m looking forward to the winter break.”

Jennifer a Libra on the site who is currently having an affair said “My husband is a Leo. In many ways he’s the perfect partner, father and provider. He’s always working hard, he’s great with the kids and he does put in effort into our relationship. Having said that, he drives me completely and utterly insane half the time, he’s a perfectionist, can’t let things go and often obsesses. Sometimes it’s nice to just escape from him, away from everything serious and just let my hair down and have fun.”

Jessica spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com adds “Capricorns are earth signs who are extremely practical. When a Capricorn is in a marriage that is not making them entirely happy their solution is to go seek that happiness elsewhere. Being practical, Capricorns are more than capable of compartmentalising their affair and are great at keeping secrets and are therefore unlikely to get caught cheating.

Sagittarius’ belong to the fire element, and they are fiercely independent, which may come as a shock that so few Sagittarius’ are unfaithful. Although known to be adventures, risky and sociable, once a Sagittarius makes a commitment, they stick to it. A Sagittarius is always on the search for sex, love and relationships, however they are more inclined to escape an unhappy marriage, than look for some extra-marital fun; multi-dating is not their forte.

Why are Leo’s everywhere being cheated on – isn’t it obvious? Leo’s are passionate star signs, very competitive and ambitious, and naturally extremely stubborn. When your partner always wants to get their own way, it’s only natural that you need to get yours too, elsewhere.”

Monday 7th January is the biggest day of the year for affairs

The key findings

  • Dubbed Blue Monday, Monday 7th January sees more couples looking for an affair than any other day of the year.
  • Pro-longed festive period highlights the cracks in relationships.
  • Freezing cold weather likely to take the numbers even higher.
  • Registrations on married-dating website IllicitEncounters.com forecast to be up 28% on the busiest week for cheating.

2018 may have only just begun but affairs are tipped to be at their peak just seven days in to the year.

What the numbers show

Dubbed Blue Monday. The 7th January sees more couples race to extramarital dating site IllicitEncounters.com in search of an affair than any other day of the year. After an overdose of Christmas, the New Year, and most importantly, each other, many couples are making splitting up their number one New Year resolution.

This comes in what is set to be the busiest week of the year for affairs with a forecasted 28% increase year on year in registrations for the UK’s leading dating website for married people IllicitEncounters.com.

In a survey of 500 new signups, 75% claimed that being cooped up with their partner over the Christmas period left them feeling suffocated and in need of some time apart. That, together with miserable cold weather, darker days and the despair of heading back to work has left couples across the country gasping for something new and exciting that the thrill of an affair can bring.

And IllicitEncounters.com sees January every year as the time when couples make their top New Year’s resolution to split and move on from their troubled relationship. Not surprisingly it also happens to be the peak period for divorce lawyers.

Christian Grant, the site’s spokesperson explains:

“The New Year is a time when people are making life-changing decisions so an increase in sign-ups at the beginning of the year is no surprise to us. The amount of new registrations since Boxing Day suggests that this year will be no exception.”

Grant adds:

“A period of family lockdown means couples spend an intense time with each other over Christmas which can be quite claustrophobic. This can lead to a ‘cabin fever’ situation where couples get so infuriated with each other that underlying problems are brought to the surface.”

“Studies have shown that more couples argue in January than during any other month, with many trying to deal with the stresses of returning to work, over-spending, eating and drinking over the holiday period and money being stretched tighter and tighter by New Year price rises. This leads to an inevitable build-up of irritability and tempers are frayed. Add to this the financial implications of getting a divorce and the prospect of having an affair not only starts to look appealing, it becomes a financially viable option.

The 7th January is one of the first days back to work and couples take this opportunity to explore all the things they couldn’t under the watchful eye of their partner.”

Spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com Christian Grant explains:

“We wanted to know what kind of gifts cheaters favour this festive season and it turns out that guilty pockets are quite deep.”

“Both men and women spend big this season, so if your spouse has got you something you weren’t expecting and they’ve really splashed out, it might be time to dig a little deeper into what they are doing with their spare time.”

A third of people have cheated on a partner at Christmas – and the works party is where an affair is most likely to start, according to a new survey

* Two-thirds said they were unfaithful because they had drunk alcohol and things had gone too far;
* Christmas is the peak period of the year for cheating – ahead of the summer holidays and New Year;
* Less than third of cheats (32%) said they had regretted their fling – suggesting they were likely to do it again;
* Results are from a new survey of 1,000 people by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating site for married people

What the numbers show

A third of people have cheated on a partner at Christmas, according to a new survey.

It is the most popular time of the year for a new affair to start ahead of the summer holidays and the New Year.

The office Christmas party is the most likely place for a fling to happen with more than half of respondents (57%) who had been unfaithful saying it was with a work colleague.

Two-thirds of cheats (68%) said they were unfaithful because they had drunk alcohol and things had gone too far as a result.

In just over half of cases (54%), the affair did not extend beyond the works party but 46% carried on seeing their colleague after the festive season.

The results are from a new survey of 1,000 people by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating site for married people.

Slightly more women (35%) than men (31%) have betrayed a partner at Christmas time.

The survey found that 85% of people felt more passionate in the run-up to Christmas because they were excited by the holidays and they were partying more with friends and colleagues.

Most affairs happened in the three week period between December 3rd and Christmas Eve – the key period for works parties before the holidays start and people stay at home with their families.

Three-quarters of people (74%) who cheated with a work colleague admitted flirting with them in the run-up to the party.

Seven out of ten cheats (71%) concealed the affair from their colleagues but 29% made no secret of the fact that they had been unfaithful – mainly because they were drunk.

Less than a third of cheats (32%) said they had regretted their fling – suggesting they were likely to do it again.

Only one in ten Christmas flings (11%) are discovered by the betrayed partner – so nearly all cheats get away with their indiscretion.

Expert comment from Jessica Leoni

IllicitEncounters.com spokesman Christian Grant said: “Beware of the Christmas party season because it is a hotbed for affairs.”

“Sexual tensions which have been bubbling up over the course of the working year finally explode due to drink and the opportunity to grab a kiss under the mistletoe.”

“The good news for cheats is that they are very unlikely to get caught out if they start an affair at this time of year, though they are advised not to flaunt their new love in front of their colleagues.”

More than 1 million people have registered with IllicitEncounters.com since it started – and thousands of people begin new affairs each week. The peak time for new registrations is the first two weeks of January when disgruntled spouses return to work after the holidays realising their relationship is unfulfilling and seek someone new.

This Friday Is ‘Unfaithful Friday’, The Most Popular Day Of Winter For Affairs

The key findings

  • 80% of adulterers surveyed see their extramarital partner on Unfaithful Friday.
  • Of those polled 45% have booked a getaway with their lover.
  • 35% of respondents will spend the whole weekend with their lover.
  • Taking a business trip is the most common excuse used with 40% using work as a cover
  • Activity on married-dating website IllicitEncounters.com goes up 30% for the week leading up to Unfaithful Friday.

Cheating peaks on the UK’s most popular day of winter for infidelity. This year ‘Unfaithful Friday’ falls on the 23rd of November, when adulterers plan to have their last illicit encounter of 2018 with their extramarital lover.

What the numbers show

A staggering 8 out of 10 adulterers surveyed indicated that they have plans to meet up with their mistress or histress on Unfaithful Friday. More cheaters meet up on this day than on any other day of winter. For many adulterers, Unfaithful Friday is the last time they will be able to see their secret lovers this year, before the festive period fills their time with family, and other obligations that run into the new year.

Almost half of the respondents have booked the evening away, with romantic city breaks being the most popular choice for those cheaters having their final get together of the year. London tops the list of destinations followed by Paris, and finally Edinburgh completes the top 3.

Beware if your partner is talking about a business trip this Friday, 2 out of 5 cheaters polled use this excuse to have overnight stays away from home.Catching up with friends was the second most popular excuse used.

The weekend also sees higher than average numbers with 35% of those surveyed intending to spend the entire weekend with their lover.

Communication activity on the site typically spikes by 30%. More messages are exchanged on IllicitEncounters.com during the week leading up to Unfaithful Friday, than on any other week of the year.

The annual survey was conducted on 1000 members of IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people.

Spokesperson for IllicitEncounters.com, Christian Grant explains:

“Over the Christmas period there is very little free time for most of us. It’s hard enough to make time for extramarital activities without having to think about all of the obligations that come with Christmas. It makes sense that so many adulterers choose to have a final romp before being overwhelmed by the season’s obligations.”

“While London might not be the most romantic city in the world, it is hardly surprising that it topped our list of popular destinations. There are hundreds of hotels to suit all tastes and budgets. It’s the business hub of the country making it easy to use work as the perfect cover to spend a night in the city.”

Top Getaway Destinations

  1. London (22%)
  2. Paris (14%)
  3. Edinburgh (12%)
  4. Cornwall (10%)
  5. Lake District (9%)
  6. Coastal Towns (7%)
  7. Brussels (5%)
  8. Berlin (2%)
  9. Other UK (11%)
  10. Other Europe (8%)

If Your Partner Spent Big This Christmas, They Could Be Cheating On You

The key findings

  • IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people can reveal the Christmas gifts that indicate that your partner might be having an affair
  • 85% of men and 89% of women stated that they spent lavishly on their partner because they felt guilty
  • The site surveyed 300 married men and 300 married women to find out the most popular gifts they bought for their partner this Christmas
  • 35% of men spoiled their wife with designer jewellery, and 27% with designer clothing
  • Women bought their husbands designer clothing (24%) and gadgets (20%) such as Smart Watches and Smart Speakers

While your face might have lit up on Christmas morning when you opened the bracelet from Tiffany’s or the Givenchy bag, it could be also sign that your partner is having an affair.

What the numbers show

IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading dating website for married people and the leading authority on infidelity, can reveal the Christmas gifts that indicate that your partner might be having an affair.

The site surveyed 300 married men and 300 married women to find out the most popular gifts they bought for their partner this Christmas.

35% of men spoiled their wife with designer jewellery, with 27% hedging their bets on designer clothing.

Spending on designer goods didn’t stop there, with a further 20% spending big on a designer handbag.

The remaining 18% purchased anything ranging from spa days to shoes.

Women, on the other hand, predominantly bought their husbands designer clothing (24%).

20% went down the tech route, with Smart Watches and Smart Speakers such as the Amazon Echo or Google Home proving a popular gift of choice.

16% decided that a way to a man’s heart was through his stomach, and splashed out on expensive liquor, while 13% purchased came to the realisation that a man is nothing without his beard – they spent big on grooming products.

Critically, where both men and women agreed was on the motivations behind their high-end purchases.

A whopping 85% of men and 89% of women stated that they spent lavishly on their partner this Christmas purely out of guilt for their affair.

The site’s spokesperson, Christian Grant, explains:

“As you get older, and as you spend more and more time in the same relationship, Christmas becomes less about the gifts themselves and more about the act of giving.

“That’s why expensive and lavish gifts might not be a cause of celebration as you’d initially think.

“From the experienced adulterer to the first-timer, there’s an element of guilt, however small, that’s absolutely unavoidable.

“One small way to alleviate that guilt is to shower your significant other with material goods that you wouldn’t otherwise buy them.

“Money can’t buy happiness, but maybe it can buy you some peace of mind until you come to terms with your relationship status.”
