Swerving, ghosting, last minute stupid excuses….now we know why both genders become cynical. Unfortunately bad behaviour begets bad behaviour. It’s a problem for online dating generally, because people can.

And I’m not immune to it. It’s probably made me take as long as I do in terms of agreeing to meets. Then I get told I’m not easy. No shit Sherlock, I definitely don’t want to be seen as easy! 😜

Enigma / Becky, you're echoing what I've heard from others here.

A very attractive IE lady who I met last autumn but didn't click with, told me about a guy she'd been mooning over for SIX MONTHS but never met once 🙄
Six months of him swerving dates even though they both lived in London.
Now call me cynical, but that has to be some next-level catfishing.

Becky and Enigma, I totally agree with both of you.

If the chats are not leading anywhere then I just phase them out....

I would rather an in person meet as soon as possible. This time I met up with about 3 before I found the one, a couple of others just wanted to chat with no meet planned.

The guys I have met within a week of so of starting an initial chat seem to be the ones that I have clicked with and gone on to much better things........

(again the London thing.....easy to meet up for a quick coffee or after work drink on the way home)

I decided last year to set a time limit when it comes to messaging males on the site.

My profile states what I’m looking for and certain types I’ll not be interested such as time wasters.

So if after 3/4 weeks we haven’t exchanged photos, numbers and there’s been no arrangements made to meet.

It’s bye, bye from me.

Last year was particularly bad for time wasters and double dippers. Thank goodness I can spot them easily and I’m not wasting my time for nothing.

A girl’s gotta do. What a girl’s gotta do lol.

I agree there are both men and women on here using the site to flirt/get their kicks with no intention of meeting. As you say they get relatively easy to spot so not a huge problem. They haven’t broken the t&c of this site (or any OLD app) by not meeting. So you have no choice but to accept it 🤷‍♀️

There are definitely private message threads that throw up red flags. The sad truth is that a fair number of women on IE aren't actually looking to meet anyone and use the site for some kind of personal validation. They enjoy the flirting and the attention but will resolutely swerve any attempts to actually meet for a date. They're different from a woman who isn't interested - they will either tell you as much or stop responding. The tyre kickers try to keep you around on the promise of a future meet that never actually happens.

Fortunately I can now spot them early on and don't waste very much time on them.
