Like others have said if your IE is too far, it can then become so infrequent when you see each other, it’s hardly worth it. There again , you don’t want an IE who lives too close as you risk getting caught far more easily.

In the Scottish highlands ie are never going to be close but at least it not the other end of the uk

There are hardly any ladies within practical meeting distance (40 miles) of me these days, so no IE meets happen anyway.

This entirely depends on how often you want to meet and how much flexibility you want. Some people prefer to book time well in advance and some prefer the ability to do things spontaneously. Distance doesn't matter if you can plan. I met an IE here once who actually lived in the US - she had registered here while she was in the UK visiting her sister. We got on well and I started visiting the US every other month, and her coming to the UK every other month. That worked for a some time, until we both went into new relationships and ended the IE.

I didn't mean next door .. lol ... But close enough not to have to make risky excuses ... Personal arrangements very much depend on particular personal circumstances, so i guess its each to their own ...

Closer is, for me, definitely better. It is more intense, more connected, and so much more a real part of your life. Maybe because the stakes seem higher, the illicit-ness is also hightened ... Win Win .... ;-)
