The 'Average' body

This seems, I suggest, to be often considered differently by men and women.

It does of course perhaps depend on age? I mean is it a size 10 when
considering a woman in her 20's. Or a 12/14 when older say after having
kids? Or even 14/16?

What is a woman's view and also that of a man?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and so it is with our imagination when we see a description - I suspect most people put their shape as what they want themselves to be perceived as rather than what they might actually be, and as stated earlier a 30yo view of a average is likely to be different to a 50yo view.

As for me I’m 6ft 1in, 82.5kgs, 34in waist. I’d describe myself as slim as that’s exactly what I am - when I say to people I’d like to lose a few pounds they just laugh. I nearly describe myself as athletic but that’s because I do have some muscle definition, but no way near a 6 pack and I confess to having to go on a search for my belly button….

There’s nothing wrong with boobies and a good sized bootie to get hold of (and massage…) - when combined with personal chemistry and phenomenal sex - if you can find it !! I agree the male obsession with size and shape is overrated

Too complicated. I possess neither a tape measure nor calculator to work out all this BMI / waist:hip ratio stuff. M&S’ size 12 may fit different to Monsoon’s equivalent. It’s all relative. Maybe all that matters is not the absolute number, but whether the person you’re meeting looks good in their own skin, and connects with you on a personal and intellectual level.

I also have my own interpretation of BMI. Brains Matter Importantly!!

RB - great comments (great profile) ... it appears that those men brave enough to be very prescriptive are slated so I think many are afraid to do so.

As for the pencil test ... I'm afraid I will either fail miserably or pass with honours, depending on what the fail and pass criteria is! 🤣

I ran out of space. Place for 6 packs. Just my fridge guys...

I think that dress sizes and statistics are a complete and utter waste of time. I'm a dress size 16 and 5ft 2. I changed my profile to cuddly from curvaceous after the pandemic. There's been 2 men I have met recently. One said that I should stick to curvaceous and the other said that I should have put very cuddly!!!

I honestly feel that if bodies are important then you should state in your profile something like this guys:

' I love a body where I can get lost in folds of flesh'...(smile ladies!)
' I love a woman who can still do the pencil test'....(happy to explain this guys !!)
' I love a woman who hasn't got an ounce of fat'...(sigh ladies....)

I could go on. I welcome men who are prescriptive. It saves a hell of a lot of time and as most of us on here know that wasted time is in full supply around these parts!!

On my part I really don't give a toss about men's bodies anymore. Yes, I married an Irish Adonis. Yes, I had a wonderful affair with an Italian Adonis. Now? Place for 6 packs? My fri

Of all the things we are looking/filtering for on here… if I like the photo and we get on during chat I will meet. That’s the only way to tell.

If people are asking for bmi or waist/hip ratio before meeting good luck to them 😂😂 they’re going to need it!!

Great post L&E

Jesus Christ. Is this the complexity we have now...

We've had the 'what clothes size are you', 'what bra size are you', 'what does curvy/average mean'.. the other day someone said for them it was more a 'waist v hip ratio'... now, we've got the complexities of BMI across the EU????...

Really? Wow.

Tell you what - I'l stick to 'is there chemistry' and take it from there.

There must be some really picky pik-n-mix customers here if they can be so finickity about the sweets they pull from the bag.... you'd think every guy has a couple of hundred or more to chose from... maybe they do?

Very odd!

..we are 10% of the population so Bmi wirks well for 90%). I quote: French women have the lowest BMIs in Europe - 23.2 on average. British women have the highest with 26.2. Italians have the second lowest BMIs. British men have the third highest BMI.

Now that we have regained control over Europe, we can easily reverse these unfavourable trends. Let's declare the "Imperial BMI". It s calulated by dividing height by weight cubed (not squared). Job done.
