Experts warn of infidelity surge as temperatures set to rise during ‘cheatwave’

* Rising temperatures are set to cause a wave of infidelity in the UK.

* Hot weather leads to an increase in feel-good chemicals in the body, leading to boosted libidos.

* The ‘cheatwave’ is causing people to take more risks and wanting to try something new, with activity on extramarital dating site IllicitEncounters.com set to soar.

As the mercury rises, so too could the risk of infidelity. According to sex and relationship expert at IllicitEncounters.com, Jessica Leoni, warmer temperatures are sparking a cheating frenzy across the UK.

It’s not just the thermometers that are rising; the heat can also turn up the heat in our love lives, often leading to risky behaviour. Leoni explains that hot weather increases levels of feel-good chemicals like dopamine and serotonin. This boost can lower inhibitions and heighten arousal, making people more likely to engage in infidelity.

“Heatwaves can act like a powerful aphrodisiac,” says the sexpert. “They lower our self-control and make us more likely to give in to temptations.”

It’s a phenomenon that the UK’s leading married dating site sees when temperatures soar. Last year, IllicitEncounters.com reported a 64% increase in activity during the June heatwave, and this year they are bracing for a repeat performance.

“We’re already seeing increased engagement on our website as temperatures creep up” Leoni warns. “It’s a clear sign that the ‘cheatwave’ effect is kicking in again.”

In a poll of 800 new members on the extramarital dating site, 76% cited the weather as playing a role in their decision to sign up, and 69% agreed that higher temperatures made them more likely to take risks and try something new.

Several factors contribute to this steamy ‘cheatwave’ trend. Hot weather means more social events, more revealing clothing, and more opportunities to meet new people. Leoni points out that these factors combined with the physiological effects of heat can create a perfect storm for infidelity.

“Cities are especially prone to this phenomenon,” she explains. “The vibrant social scenes and the sheer number of people increase the chances of flirty encounters. However, rural areas aren’t immune – any place where people are more active and social during hot weather can see a spike in cheating.”
