Many people seem to ask “why IE?” as their ice breaker.

For quite a few it’s a fairly straightforward proposition, they’re unhappy in their relationship and need an outlet.

I wouldn’t use the word “unhappy” myself, I’ve got a good family life that’s functional and practical. I work hard (ish) and pay my bills, come home and enjoy the family dynamic.

I still find my wife attractive and respect her as the mother of my child and the woman who I’ve build this life with so far.

However, there are other desires that I think a good number of you will be able to relate to.

There’s a darker, more lustful aspect to human sexuality (that’s not code for whips, chains and ball-gags)

I just find my mind drifting away from the mundane and vanilla, the body I’ve known so well and seen 1000 times. The lips (and other areas) I’ve already kissed and stimulated.

Many people call this a ‘mid-life crisis’ but I think it’s more of an awakening. I actually think crisis comes from not doing anything about it then one day realising you’re incapable or not attractive enough.

This is an opportunity for us all to enjoy what we have and celebrate together.

Our mutual desire to want to seduce again, to feel wanted and desired, have that secret that nobody else can know. Sneaky texts on the sofa whilst she’s not looking, hushed calls to hear your partner in crime’s voice.

The anticipation and the danger that puts the glint in your eye and spring in your step (and other places) is such an alluring proposition, how can we not?
