About Me:

I am John, Wasn't sure about this site but am sure there are others who are looking to kindle that spark of romance.
I am a good listener but am sometimes told that I wind people up when we get into a serious debate.

I miss just being with someone who will share the best things in life and together we may find joy and happiness.

I enjoy walking in the countryside and weekends away, travelling and dining out . I prefer coastal walks and Forest walks also

I enjoy archaeology and am intending to help out at a dig on a new site at Hadrian's wall Care to join me for a weekend ?

Not one to sit in watching telly but a cosy romantic evening in is ok with the right person. Nice mood music , a bottle of wine to share and perfect peace .I like cooking so a weekend cottage with me doing a special meal would be great.

I tend to be independent but some say I am caring and am good company with a sense of humour. I sometimes tend to be over enthusiastic especially with sport .. rugby and football but its a little indulgence that i allow myself.

I lately have been taking a coached swimming course and found it is great exercise . I also walk and have recently completed the renovation of a 16th century cottage having replaced floors some plumbing and electrics plus decorating. I have also repaired a ten foot high stone wall ..

I am a qualified electrical engineer but before I retired studied with the open university and gained a BA (Honours) in English Literature and History...that is history of Empire, Medicine, Fine Art, Music, and Modern Warfare. I attended university seminars in Edinburgh, London, Belfast , Leeds and really enjoyed it . I enjoyed the research especially for the study of slavery in the Americas. and wrote a Biography on the life of the Author Daphne Du Maurier.
It was a complete change for me took me 6 years and none vocational. I loved it but at times found the time difficult to work in with home life also I was on call at times 12 hour shifts as a maintenance manager.

I am not a control freak and realise we are not owned by anyone. I recognise that we may have commitments to another life somewhere else. I also hope that our special relationship would allow for this but would not rule our meetings I was too interested in politics but have toned that down as others may not appreciate that encroaching on 'Our Time'. Although a good debate often can turn out with a few smiles rather than a headache.

I have learned to be a good listener... Thats why we have one mouth and two ears ..

I dont like dressing like a tramp even for walks . Not a scruffy individual but would ask what would be appropriate for the occasion. Unlike most blokes I like to shop with my female partner choosing clothes for each other ,shoes and sports wear .. I was given a set of underpants once made from Bamboo.. Snug fit but the splinters were hell. Like being attacked by a porcupine in my shorts .. I love really love to see my partner in a dress, shoes, or clothes that I have bought for her with her approval. It is such a personal thing and I think it brings us closer together.

I have done and travelled extensively. What I now wish is to find someone who is kind, caring, and enjoys similar activities.. Kissing can be an art form also ...

Dresses well and likes to wine and dine even though her cook / partner for the weekend has burned the sausages/
