About Me:

Less of the generic, more of the real me.

Circumstances have changed dramatically very recently and so I’ve decided to come back to IE. Just been through a rather messy separation and I’m feeling a little raw ! All I’ve ever wanted at this stage of my life was friendship and companionship but sadly my wife couldn’t provide that. Now I’m looking for a nice woman who can. And vice versa, of course !

So separated now, living alone and keen to fill a vacuum !

Still fit, active and very capable in all departments.

I’m 5'10", reasonably athletic, in good physical shape - I keep trim and I look after myself, brown eyes and brown hair (what there is of it). Most of my own teeth - the rest are on some Irish rugby ground - been there for 40 years now.

I would never consider myself good-looking (more Gene Hackman than Brad Pitt) but I don’t frighten children ! And I certainly don’t bite !

I’m Irish but I’ve lived here for 35 years, with two adult married children, now living their own lives.

I'm a decent sort of bloke, easy going, generally kind and considerate. I love to laugh, I can hold a good conversation on most subjects and I have a sense of humour.

I have my own business, I'm solvent, adventurous (is that an oxymoron ?), I have lots of male friends (it's the other kind I'm after), and life is generally good, except domestically !

For films I like political thrillers, and the slightly complicated, simple tastes otherwise. I loved Dr Zhivago (that dates me !), the Bourne trilogy, Ronin, and especially Line of Duty (didn’t everyone !). Don’t like soaps though I’ve been known to listen to the Archers ! Oohh, the shame of it ! Music and listening etc., BBC Radio 4, Dire Straits, Moody Blues, any of the tenors, Katherine Jenkins (I love her singing also), Puccini, any D'Oyly Carte and Celine Dion wins hands down. I'm less fond of Jazz.

For books, I like biographies, legal novels (John Grisham, Michael Connolly), crime (Ian Rankin).

As for the boring bits, I'm university educated, degree from Trinity, Dublin,, well read, etc. Personally, I love a well written profile and would love to meet somebody who understands what an apostrophe is, and where a comma goes ! Generally, I find the standard of the site refreshingly good - lots of interesting people here, who, for the most part, can spell and are grammatically literate.

As I said, very recently separated - a very traumatic experience - but now it’s over and I want to enjoy what’s left of my life. Now living on my own and I’d be delighted to entertain a nice woman, either at home or at a nice eating place. I promise you you won’t regret it !

I’d love to meet a good woman, someone of fairly similar age, maybe with similar interests. I don't expect anybody to fall in love with me but it would be nice to be liked. Liked enough anyway, on a very special occasion, to share a bed with. I have a lot of 'like' to give .

I like most sports but especially tennis - I still play 2/3 times a week - occasional golf, horseracing (I work in the industry), love watching rugby and am a very keen follower (all over Europe) of Munster, one of the better Irish teams.

Never quite got the hang of American Football or baseball !

A few likes: drivers who acknowledge any little consideration given to them on the roads, talking to old ladies while walking in the countryside, gentle, kind, decent people etc.

I reckon if you've read my profile so far, you've probably had enough and, anyway, you'll know exactly the kind of friend I'm looking for !
