About Me:

I'm intelligent, well-educated with a dry, sometimes slightly cynical and subversive sense of humour, a laid-back attitude to life -- sometimes a belief in serendipity can stand you in good stead. I have a wide range of interests and can pontificate alarmingly, but with varying degrees of expertise, on a number of things, but in particular the arts, literature (especially poetry), history and politics, so need somebody prepared to keep me in check, and I am a good listener. My days of wild clubbing all night have probably come to an end, unless you can persuade me otherwise, but have catholic music tastes and still like going to concerts, as well as enjoying conversation over a quiet drink or dinner. In terms of looks, I'm tall -- 6'2" -- and have been told I have nice eyes and a good figure. Like to stay in shape by cycling and walking, so always interested in romps on the downs. (Generally not so good at the flirty banter thing. Feel as though I am writing Sid James's Carry On scripts, but maybe that reflects a debased taste for cheesy puns and innuendo.) However, my hair is thinning on top, so keep it cut reasonably short. This is to manage expectations. If you're seeking a lustrously-tonsured George Clooney type, then I'm afraid you'll have to look elsewhere. Stubble can be grown on request. Might balk at a beard.

I'm currently self-employed, so fairly flexible with regards to time -- days, evenings, the odd weekend. On this site for the usual reasons, married with kids, slightly jaded, stuck in a rut, general sense of ennui, but with some way to go before existential angst takes over :-)
