PHP Developer

Hi, I'm the web developer and technical lead for Illicit Encounters.

I have got a to-do list as long as my arm, with some really sexy and neat stuff as well to do (with Zend Framework, PHP5, Smarty and Javascript/Ajax) - and I need some help to be able to do them, and all the other features and tools that this site that can be further improved for the benefit of our members, administrators and to further business development.

So, I'm looking for a quality PHP/UI developer - I've seen some really crappy stuff, and I want good, simple, understandable and flexible code delivered in good time. There are some real bonuses with it as well - first among them in my mind is that I'm working from home four or five days a week. I'm also a stickler for doing development right - so that means increasingly OO design and Unit testing. I've even sent code back to be cleaned up because it didn't look good - because in my mind, that's another bug (though PHPCS helps a lot with coding standards as well). Another thing I've found is that if you have to write complicated code, then you're not a great programmer.

If you are in Berks/Bucks/West London, that's a real bonus (to help out with face-to-face time and getting you up to speed with the code), but if you are further afield, that's OK as well - the rest of the company usually works virtually anyway, over skype for IM, or just on the phone (but usually IM). If you don't have formal in-work experience, I'll talk to you as well, you will have to prove you can do it - and I do demand high standards, I've no time to hand-hold, though if you don't learn (or at least figure out for yourself) something new ever day, then you just aren't trying.

So, if you are smart, know what you are doing (from someone that also knows what they are talking about), and you want to do more and be better (or you know someone like that, I think I can wangle a finders-fee out of the boss) then let me know. The target salary is £18K to £25K for a time-served junior developer, but if there is someone that is worth more, then you would get it. If you can prove you can do the job, the right way (aka my way), and without taking days for what wold take me hours, then I'll promise you that in a couple of years, if you can't call yourself a developer wizard after my tutelage, then you never will be.
